Thugs Beat-up Teacher, VP For Flogging Oba-of-Benin's Grand-daughter
Teachers of the Federal Government Girls Secondary School in Benin City, have threatened to down tools over an attack on some of them by some suspected thugs.
We gathered that the suspected hoodlums invaded the school Monday and manhandled some teachers over the alleged flogging of a student in the school by one of the teachers.
The flogged student is said to be a granddaughter of the Benin Monarch, Oba Erediauwa. She was allegedly injured on the hand after being flogged by the teacher.
Thugs who stormed the school the thereafter demanded to see the teacher that flogged the girl. When their demand was not met, they resorted to manhandling the teachers around, including one of the Vice Principals.

The best 12 were selected and it was jubilation time for them. Their joy knew no bounds as they celebrated and danced on the stage.
Mokeme hosted the maiden and second editions of GUS before Tin Tin, actor Bob Manuel-Udokwu and Darey Art-Alade took over from him and handled subsequent editions of the event.

Gino Covacci was strolling down the beach on Wednesday and saw something ball-like and went to investigate. When he rolled the object over, he found it was, a softball-sized blue eyeball and it was fresh.He handed over what he found to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which planned to preserve the eye and send it to St. Petersburg for analysis.

3rd Mainland Bridge to be shut down on Sunday 14th
The Lagos State Government yesterday announced that the 3rd Mainland Bridge will be completely shut down tomorrow Sunday Oct 14th to allow the contractors to do the concrete casting of the expansion joints currently undergoing repair works on the Oworonshoki-bound section. The government explained that the concrete casting and drying process requires zero vibration, and that's why they are shutting down the bridge from 6.am to 12 midnight. So motorists are advised to find alternative routes.

NDLEA nabs man who concealed 2.4kg of cocaine in pendants and female belts
Oluigboka Chukwuemeka Emmanuel thought he had cleverly concealed about 2.4 kilogrammes of cocaine in pendants and female belts.
But his luck ran out when he was intercepted by Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement officials.
The 33-year old suspect had just disembarked from a flight from Brazil when he was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed international airport in Lagos, southwest Nigeria.
“During search, powdery substances that tested positive for cocaine were found in his bag. It took several hours to extract the cocaine from the pendants because of the complex method of concealment,” said Mitchell Ofoyeju, NDLEA Head of Public Affairs.
The agency’s airport commander, Mr. Hamza Umar, disclosed that the drug was factory packed inside assorted pendants. He described the mode of concealment as unusual.
“This mode of concealment is strange and it is the first time of discovering drugs inside jewellery,” he said.

Doctor rips baby's head off during child birth, Then pushes baby back into the birth canal
A Missouri couple is suing a team of doctors for allegedly decapitating their baby during delivery and trying to cover up the stunning surgical mistake.
Parents Arteisha Betts and Travis Amonnette of Florissant, Missouri filed a lawsuit in September, claiming obstetrician severed their baby’s head from his body while tring to yank him from the birth canal during childbirth.
The couple accused doctors of forcing them to have a vaginal birth when the mom to be Betts was scheduled by another doctor to deliver through C-section.
M.I Rescued Accident Victim
During the early hours of Saturday, October 13, 2012, Chocolate City rapper, M.I came across a gruesome accident along Ikorodu road, Lagos, involving four people, and called for help via social media.
The rapper tweeted, ‘I’m presently at the scene of a serious accident…We have been here for almost an hour.. And no rescue service!!! Any one that can help. Opposite Obanikoro estate on Ikorodu road. One passenger looks like they are still alive and can make it.. But we need towing trucks and jaws of life to save him… Pls help. At least 3 girls dead, the driver still alive’.
The rapper, who was still there when the emergency services arrived, saw them pull out one of the passengers “One girl has been removed from the car and is dead… Pretty young girl.. My God…”

2 Nigerian students to die by firing squad for armed robbery

Justice Theresa Igoche of the Makurdi High Court, on Tuesday sentenced two students, Vershima Kaachi and Akaazua Akpen, to death by firing squad for armed robbery.
The convicts were arrested on the eve of Christmas in 2007 for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery, contrary to Sections 5(b) and 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990.

Police shoot sales girl dead, injure 3 others
A 20-year old sales girl identified simply as Lucy, was on Friday was shot dead by policemen in the Apo area of Abuja. The girl was hit in the chest by bullets fired into a photography shop where she worked as a sales girl. Three other people sustained gunshot injuries when policemen from the FCT Police Command fired bullets indiscriminately in an attempt to enforce the demolition order of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council.
The policemen had stormed the area around 7 am with officials of Development Control Department, who had come to demolish illegal structures. But residents and indigenes, who felt that the government had no right to demolish their houses when they were yet to be resettled, resisted the operation.
